Dubplates
or Dubplate is a music industry term normally
associated with the musical genres, DnB
(Drum and Bass), Dubstep
and originally Reggae. In context these will normally
be listed as DnB Dubplate (DnB Dubplates) or Reggae
Dubplates. The terms dubplates and dubplate refer to
a recording or piece of music
that has not seen a general release to the public by
a record label via the vinyl
medium or a piece of music that has been cut on to
an acetate (also vinyl) disc. These dubplates have a
limited usable life for performance purposes the
details of which can be found via other references
to dubplates on the net. Dubplates are considered to
be the holy grail to DJ's
as dubplates offer an exclusive edge over
contemporary DJ competition in the DJ market(which has grown massively since the birth of
the dance music scene). Why would you want to play
music that the DJ next door has?

Record
Deals: An insider guide to what to look for when
signing for a record label or Mp3 download site
At
some stage or another a band, music producer, hip
hop artist or MC will want to know if they are good
enough to get a record deal. On
the surface getting a record deal as an unsigned
artist or aspiring talent can seem daunting.
With massively popular shows such as the "X
Factor" and other highly popular talent shows
the public has never been more aware of just what it
takes to make it on the global stage. However,
traditionally most rock,
Indie
and acoustic
types of band have always been conscious of the
"Selling out factor" and a new term known
as Underground Music sprang up to categorize bands,
producers, MC's and other artists working in many
different musical
styles and genres.

Before
we begin this article in earnest it is probably
easier if we roll back time a little and return to
the roots of most DJ's
in the world. Yes that's right you have guessed it
we are going to spend a bit of text on the bedroom DJ
and his evolution. Why? Because it's important to
see how the evolution of the DJ grows so you can
understand the closing paragraphs of this article
and then make your own decisions about which way you
want to go with your DJ career, passion or hobby
whichever category of DJ you are you should read
this.
Here
is a hard statement for you, all DJ's start in the
home. Being branded a bedroom DJ is just a term used
for DJ's who have not performed outside the
environment of their own home or friends houses.
Some see this as a derogatory term but it really
shouldn't be seen that way, as every superstar House
DJ, the Best DnB
DJ's and the most dexterous of UK
Hip Hop DJ's all start here.

UK Hip Hop has long been a steady base for
underground artists from the
U.K., with the daddy of all Hip
Hop scenes being from the United States. The
United States Hip Hop scene has a long established
history and in most ways the Hip Hop scene in the U.S. has been a mainstay of the
U.S. main stream Pop industry.
The
UK Hip Hop Scene is slightly different however, with the majority of artists and the UK Hip Hop scene
generally remaining under the genre "Underground music".
The first MC's
to become recognised were artists working in the
early days of Drum and Bass and Rave music with
their predecessors being artists such as Merlin,
Silver Bullet, Overlord X and others.

Dubplates:
How
DJ's have embraced the digital era.
It
is now a recognised fact that Dubplates
have moved from the realms of reggae and DnB
(drum and Bass) as the main area for their use. With
the birth of digital dubplates the whole dance music
scene are now waking up to the benefits of dubplates
on download. The facts cant be denied regardless of
how misty eyed a DJ may get about the vinyl medium.
Almost every person working in the music scene today
will tell you that dubplates on mp3 download are
here to stay and no amount of bad mouthing or
wishing the situation is different is going to
change that.

Trance Music has long roots based in the pre history
of myth and magic. In man kinds distant past the
term Trance was used to describe the shamanic
drumming inherent in pre historic tribes and also to
this current day in various geographies through the
world.
No one can say with any definitive authority where
Trance Music originated from, but it is very likely
that that the term came from the fact that during
the age old shaman practices the music
was part of the overall recipe used by the shaman or
witch doctor to put the listener and practioner into
a trance like state or altered state of
consciousness. Through this Trance music, most often
used in conjunction with mind altering substances,
the shaman would go on a journey into realms not
usually associated with the standard model of the
mind.
Moving on many many thousands of years and the term
Trance Music is now more often associated with the
advent of dance
music and it's many off shoots or genres. There
have been many seminal tracks within the Trance
Music genre and it is a musical style that continues
to develop and grow. With terms such as progressive
house as championed by House Music Dj's such as
Sasha the Trance Musical Style continues to develop.
